Do you ever feel like you’re not progressing in your training. There’s a few things you might want to take into consideration before you give up.
Progress takes time. And if you keep at it, although, it seems you’re not getting anywhere you might be surprised how you have evolved in just a few months. What seems like no progress might just be a feeling while you’re building strength and figuring out the technical stuff. Your body learns through muscle memory, and there’s no timeline for it. Stick with it, and you will see results.
Don’t just follow one teacher. Check out many different styles and teachers in order to find what resonates with you when mastering a certain trick. Research the best and the worst (sometimes a “bad dancer” breaks down the moves much better than the awesome star performer). Take time to find teachers that break things down and try different approaches. One does not fit all.
Most importantly, the benefits of training aren’t mastering a certain trick. The benefits of training are staying in shape, growing strength, coordination, and trying what challenges your body, mind, and spirit (often in pole dancing we overcome fears of heights and other things). Keep in mind that the end product isn’t what makes it or breaks it. Most important is that you have fun and are enjoying the time you spend with yourself doing something you’re passionate about.
